Strategical Maps of Noise

Pursuant to Section 181 of the Law On Pollution, VAS “Latvijas dzelzceļš” as the manager of public use railway infrastructure has developed strategic maps of noise for railway line sections where the intensity of train traffic exceeded 30,000 trains per year in 2016. The maps were developed on 30 November 2017, in line with the requirements of Cabinet Regulations No. 16 of 7 January 2014 “Procedure of Assessment and Management of Noise”, and on 19 December 2017, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development approved the maps without any objections. The maps were developed by SIA “Estonian, Latvian & Lithuanian Environment”.

In the territory of Riga city, the railway sections include Riga Passenger Station – Torņakalns – Zasulauks, 2.700 zero end (Bridge of Augusta Deglava) – Zemitāni – Brasa, the railway section that continues outside Riga is Riga Passenger Station – Lielvārde.

Action Plan for Reduction of Environmental Noise Created by the Railway Operations

The Action Plan will be developed in 2018.
