Changes within concern Latvijas dzelzceļš – JSC Pasažieru vilciens becomes a state-owned company

Concern Latvijas dzelzceļš (LDz) was established in the period between the year 2002 and July 2007; one of its first subsidiaries was JSCPasažieru vilciens.

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia made a decision to repurchase JSC Pasažieru vilciens and on 2 September 2008 issued an order No. 526 On share purchase and shareholder of JSC Pasažieru vilciens and No. 528 On discontinuation of conclusive influence of SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš in JSC Pasažieru vilciens and JSC VRC Zasulauks.

On 2 October 2008 on the basis of the mentioned orders of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Transport on behalf of the State of Latvia and SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš signed a Purchase Contract, which determines that JSC Pasažieru vilciens becomes a state-owned company.

In accordance with the latest changes the concern LDz consists of the holding company – SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš and the following subsidiary companies – LDz Cargo Ltd., LDz Infrastruktūra Ltd., LDz Ritošā sastāva serviss Ltd., LDz Apsardze Ltd. and a liquidating subsidiary company JSC Starptautiskie pasažieru pārvadājumi.

LDz Cargo Ltd. has established its own subsidiary – LDz Cargo loģistika Ltd., which is subjected indirectly to SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš.
