Prestigious Rail Transport Business Forum in Riga
On 13-15 February 2008 at Reval Hotel Latvia there will take place International regional rail transport business forum 1520 Strategic Partnership: Baltic region.
The forum is officially supported by JSCo Russian Railways and SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš (Latvian Railway). The forum will be opened with the welcoming addresses by Ainārs ŠLESERS, Minister of Transport of Republic of Latvia, Vladimir YAKUNIN, President of JSCo Russian Railways, Uģis MAGONIS, Chairman of the Board of SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš, as well as by the representatives from the CIS railway administrations, international rail transport organizations and businesses. The forum will be attended by 19 delegations, in total more than 300 participants.
The main topic of the forum: Increase of competitiveness of the Baltic region rail routes within Euro-Asian transport system.
In the roundtable discussions there will be also discussed the following issues:
- Development of up-to-date logistics infrastructure and competitive multimodal service in the Baltic region;
- Investments for rail transport development, experience and perspectives of the Baltic region;
- Container transportation in the Baltic region and sources of freight formation;
- Rail transport and ecological security in the Baltic region.
During the forum there will be signed several international agreements, as well as will be held press conferences by Ainārs Šlesers, Minister of Transport of Republic of Latvia, Vladimir Yakunin, President of JSCo Russian Railways and Uģis Magonis, Chairman of the Board of SJSCLatvijas dzelzceļš.
