Tuesday, 26 April, 2011

On 1 June 2011 Latvijas dzelzceļš (LDz) in cooperation with Belarusian Railway (BC) will open a new passenger route Riga-Minsk.

The train No. 388/387 Riga-Minsk will stop at the following stations: Krustpils, Daugavpils, Indra, Bigosovo, Verkhnedvinsk, Polock, Krulevshizna, Molodechno. At the destination station in Minsk the passengers will be able to travel further to the Black Sea resorts – Anapa, Adler, Odessa, as well as to various European cities: Berlin, Prague, Kiev and Warsaw.

“Due to increased interest in international passenger traffic, LDz in cooperation with Belarusian Railway offer to passengers an opportunity to travel to Minsk and other Belarusian cities, and to use this route for further travels to the Black Sea,” says LDz President Uģis Magonis.

The train will depart from Minsk at 20:07 and will arrive in Riga at 08:00 the next day, whereas the train from Riga will depart at 19:00 and will arrive in Minsk at 07:30 the next day, thus providing convenient connections to further destinations.

In the summer period from 1 June until 31 August the train will run daily, after this period it will run only on Fridays and Sundays.

Three types of carriages will be available to the passengers: compartments, berths and common carriages.

The train Riga-Minsk will run on a parity basis – one day from the destination stations will depart LDz formation train, the next day – BC formation train.

In previously defined dates BC formation train will run with a specially coupled carriage by which the passengers will be able to travel further to Vitebsk, Mogilev and Gomel without changing the train.
