Latvijas dzelzceļš participates in Transrussia exhibition

On 21 April 2009 in Moscow was opened the 14th international transport and logistics exhibition TRANSRUSSIA in which participates also SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš (LDz).

26 representatives of different companies from Latvia – ports of Riga, Ventspils and Liepāja and the biggest logistics companies including LDz – take part in this exhibition. The head of Latvian delegation is Kaspars Gerhards, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Latvia. LDz is represented by Uģis Magonis, Chairman of the Board, Ēriks Šmuksts and Andris Šteinbriks, Members of the Board. LDz Cargo Ltd, subsidiary of SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš in the exhibition is represented by Guntis Mačs, Chairman of the Board.

Exhibition was opened by Igor Levitin, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation. “Exhibition TRANSRUSSIA is the biggest transport, cargo transportation and logistics exhibition in Russia. I am glad that more and more new companies participate in this event and most of the exhibition participants are foreign companies. I have managed to meet my friends – Ministers of Transport of the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Slovenia […] Transport sector plays an important role in anti-crisis programme of Russia, and I hope that to a great extent new international transport technologies will help to realise the programme and find the right solutions,” said I.Levitin in his speech of welcome to the exhibition participants.

In the exhibition opening ceremony Kaspars Gerhards, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Latvia, pointed that transport sector will get out of the economic crisis faster: “In any situation of economic crisis transport sector finds solutions faster. I am sure that in this exhibition, which has become the main international cooperation centre of transport and logistics long ago, there will be found new ways out of global economic crisis, too. From Latvia to the exhibition TRANSRUSSIA has arrived a very big delegation – representatives from 26 transport and logistics companies. I am sure they will find new business partners and friends in this exhibition.”

The exhibition has been organized in Russia since 1996. In the exhibition annually take part the leading transport and logistics companies, transport equipment and technology companies from Russia, the CIS countries and the Baltic States.
