Thursday, 24 April, 2008
Exhibition of motor and railway traction vehicles from 50s-70s Station Nostalgia will take place from 1-11 May 2008 in Latvian Railway History Museum in Riga, 2/4 Uzvaras bulvaris.

For the first time in authentic environment there will be viewed vehicles constructed in Latvia in this period. There will be an experimental auto REAF –50 (1949), which is a very rare automobile. Airmobile K – 4A, which was homemade by an enthusiast Kārlis Krauklis, has a unique design and construction, but the mopeds and RAF buses constructed in the factory Sarkanā Zvaigzne had been widely used. For the first time there will be viewed the specialized autos used in Latvia in this period: petrol carrier ZiL 157 (1968) and radio communication auto GAZ 63 (1967).
Exhibition will be supplemented with the popular motorcars, moto scooters, bicycles and railway traction vehicles - diesel locomotives from the 60s-70s, which replaced steam engine locomotives in this period, the preserved experimental electric locomotive VL26 (1967), shuttle electric train ER2 (1963) constructed in RVR (Riga Railcar Factory).
A lot of space in exhibition will be devoted to city environment and attractions. We will offer urban and especially station atmosphere, where the passengers could spend time playing cards or dominoes in the waiting room or have a cup of tea or simply watch the cars while waiting the train. The Railway Museum will offer a photo story Flowering of Socialism at Riga Central Station.
On 1 May every hour there will run a minibus RAF 9067 from Town Square to Railway Museum.
On 4 May the visitors of exhibition will have a chance to ride in rail trolley, for children there will be authentic bicycles and cars with treadles. Other attractions are possible. A station buffet will be open.
