On 28 August in Arena Riga Sandis Ozoliņš, the captain of Dynamo Riga received the Cup trophy of Latvijas dzelzceļš (LDz) hockey tournament from LDz Chairman of the Board Uģis Magonis.

Dynamo Riga defeated Lokomotiv Yaroslavl 3-2 in overtime and became the winner of the tournament. The goals for Dynamo Riga were scored by Lee Sweatt and Gints Meija.

In the first two games of the tournament both teams earned victories: Dynamo defeated Ilves Tampere 3-1 and Atlant Mytischi 5-4 in overtime. Lokomotiv beat both teams 6-0 and 3-1. Therefore, the game between Dynamo and Lokomotiv was not only the final game in the tournament, but also the most important game for getting LDz Cup.

“We are glad that the winner of this tournament is the team, which we supported and which is loved by the Latvians – Dynamo Riga. I hope that this tournament helped our team to prepare better for the Kontinental Hockey League games and this cup will be a stimulus for next victories,” said U.Magonis.

U.Magonis expressed the hope that LDz tournaments would become a great tradition also for next seasons.

LDz wishes success to the team Dynamo in the Kontinental Hockey League games!
