JCS “Latvijas Dzelzceļš” has taken a decision to raise the fees about freight traffic by rail at an average about 6-8 % starting from July 1, 2007. The tariff is determined taking into account the type of the freight and the distance of transportation. It has been announced before that on April 25, 2007 Public Utilities Commission adopted a decision nr. 117 On the raise of the fees about the utilisation of public-use railway infrastructure. In accordance with the decision the fee about one freight car is Ls 5, 68 (+23%), until July 1, 2007 – Ls 4, 62.
The fee about the utilization of railway infrastructure is one of the tariff components of freight traffic.
