JSC “Pasažieru vilciens” invites pupils and teachers to go on spring excursions in the framework of the campaign “Travel around Latvia by train”. At first there will be offered three one-day trip routes to Tukums, Ķegums and Saulkrasti.
In order to develop economical and ecological tourism in Latvia already in May there will be offered trip routes from Riga and other towns of Latvia in cooperation with SJSC “Latvijas dzelzceļš”, Tourism Development State Agency and Tourism information offices. In informative material of the routes there will be available information on the duration of excursion, expenses (train ticket, admission fee), as well as practical information on the tourism objects, places to have a meal, etc. In some routes it will be possible to have reduction of the fees for some services by presenting the train ticket. Descriptions of the routes are available at www.pv.lv and in the information office (I-point) of JSC “Pasažieru vilciens” in Riga railway station.
There have been prepared 3 routes for spring excursions to Bicycle museum and Sunset path in Saulkrasti, to Durbe palace in Tukums, and to Energetics museum and Cross hill in Ķegums. Information about the routes will be sent by e-mail until 15 May to the schools of Riga and J ūrmala, so that pupils could go on cheap and interesting excursions already at the end of May.
In the descriptions of the proposed routes there is available information on reductions of train ticket prices and the best way how to buy the tickets. Additional reductions will be offered for the groups. For the group of 10-24 persons there is 10% reduction of the train ticket price, for the group of 25 and more persons – 15% reduction.
The Ministry of Education and Science reminds that before going on excursion its organizers have to prepare carefully the excursion plan in accordance with the provisions of the Cabinet of Ministers “Order how safety of the pupils in the educational institutions and their organized activities is ensured” and safety instruction prepared in the educational institution “On safety in excursions and hikes”. This instruction has to be presented to the pupils, but excursion plan has to be presented to the parents, too.
JSC “Pasažieru vilciens” asks everybody to pay attention near trains and tracks in order to prevent tragedies due to careless behavior near trains and tracks. JSC “Pasažieru vilciens” invites the adults to remind the children and the youth how important it is to be careful on the platforms when the train is approaching and leaving, as well as near the tracks in general.

Main activity of JSC “Pasažieru vilciens” is domestic passenger transportations. Currently the company provides services in twelve routes, four of them are electric train routes and eight – diesel train routes.
