Frequently asked questions on passenger transportation in international traffic.

  1. How are ticket reservations made for travelling in international traffic?

It is possible to book tickets by telephone (+371) 67233397 (all days from 08:00 till 19:30) and (+371) 67232526 (working days from 08:00 till 17:00) and then complete travel documents at the booking offices in Riga Central Passenger station. The clients have to buy tickets in person. Written ticket reservation forms from the groups of passengers (10 and more persons) have to be sent by fax (+371) 67234644 or by e-mail odb@junik.lv or handed in at the international booking office No. 6 or any other booking office in Riga Central Passenger station where international travel documents are being formed. read more

  1. Is it possible to book tickets with delivery?

For now it is not possible to book tickets with delivery.

  1. How many days before travelling the booked tickets are to be bought out?

The booked tickets have to be bought out within 5 days from the order for a one- way ticket and within 2 days from the order for a return ticket. read more

  1. In what currency are ticket prices indicated?

The ticket prices are indicated in lats (LVL).

  1. Are there any direct passenger transportations between the Baltic States?

Currently (from 1 January, 2008) there are no direct passenger transportations between Riga, Estonia and Lithuania.

  1. In what category coaches are there offered seats for the passengers?

For the passengers in international traffic there are offered seats in sleeping coaches (two-berth compartments and business class compartments), compartment coaches (four-berth compartments), berth coaches (open type coaches) and common coaches (open type coaches with seats and coaches with seats in compartments).

  1. Is it allowed to take pets in the coach?

The pets may be transported in the compartment coaches agreeably to the terms and in special cages along with the necessary documents for them.

  1. What is the fare for pet transportation?

The passengers have to buy a ticket for their pets in the compartment, as well as buy tickets for the rest of the seats in the same compartment. Besides that there is an additional fee about the luggage that weighs 20 kgs.

  1. Is it possible to pay for a ticket with a payment card?

At the booking office No. 24 in Riga Central Passenger station it is possible to pay for tickets with the following payment cards: VISA, VISA ELECTRON, MASTER CARD, MAESTRO.

  1. Is it possible to make ticket reservation and get a ticket online?

Currently it is not possible to book a ticket and to get it online. This service will be available in the nearest future.

  1. Wherefrom is it possible to get information on the train timetable and prices?

Information is being provided in the inquiry office at Riga Central Passenger station or by Latvian Railway (SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš, LDz) Inquiries – information telephone 1181. Information may also be received by e-mail through LDz website www.ldz.lv.

  1. Is it allowed to convey a bicycle in the coach?

It is allowed to convey a dismounted bicycle as a hand baggage if all the dimensions do not exceed 200 cm. The bicycles may also be conveyed in the baggage cars.
