Mandatory procurement component – OIK

Mandatory procurement and power components

What is mandatory procurement?

Mandatory procurement is a mechanism defined by the state for those producers of electric power that manufacture electricity at cogeneration plants or with renewable energy resources.

What does the total payment consist of?

Following a resolution by the government, as of 1 January 2018, a new payment calculation procedure for mandatory procurement components (OIK) took effect.

This payment calculation procedure establishes that the total OIK payment for all consumers of electric power comprises to parts: one is fixed, the other one is variable.

The fixed part (power component) depends on the level of voltage at the electric power connection and the consumption group.

For example, for a household with a single-phase connection and a current of up to 40 A at the input circuit breaker, the power component would be 1.215 EUR a month. For a household with a three-phase connection and a current of up to 25 A (inclusive) at the input circuit breaker, the power component would be 4.890 EUR a month.

The variable part (mandatory procurement component) is determined in proportion to the electric power consumed: 0.15429 EUR/kWh (with VAT).

For example: the total payment for a household with a 20 A three-phase connection and a consumption of 100 kWh a month would be 100 × 0,15429 + 3,912 = 19,34 EUR (with VAT).
