Logistics specialists from 35 countries to gather at the LDz conference in Riga this week

More than 400 logistics specialists from 35 countries will gather in Riga this week for the “Challenges of the Global Transport Movement” conference organised by the State Joint Stock Company Latvijas dzelzceļš (LDz), which will take place on September 14. The conference will be broadcasted live worldwide on the LDz website. Among the participants are representatives from most European Union countries, as well as Azerbaijan, Belarus, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Turkey, USA, etc.

This will be the fourth annual conference “Challenges of the Global Transport Movement” and a live broadcast of the conference will be available on LDz website at https://ldz.lv/.

Edvīns Bērziņš, the President of LDz, noted: “Our goal as a country is to mark Latvia on the map of Eurasia and the world not only as a logistics hub, but also as a centre of logistics excellence offering expertise, competence, reliability, quality infrastructure, rapid technology development and an overall flexible approach within the industry that allows any cargo owner to effectively manage their business from anywhere in the world. By creating this platform and bringing together in Riga top-level speakers and conference participants from all the major existing and future cooperation markets, we have gained assurance that Latvia is viewed as a trustworthy partner.”

The conference will focus on Latvia’s role in the development of global logistics. Discussions will be led by the management of the port of Duisburg, DHL Global Forwarding, and the Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations in India, as well as other global transport and logistics industry leaders. At the same time, part of the conference will be devoted to the long-term vision of developing the public and transport sector, which will take a look at the technological and human resource management challenges of the industry with the eyes of futurists and market analysts.

Among the speakers will be Gerd Leonhard, futurist, humanist and Executive Director of the Futures Agency (Switzerland); Svetlana Kruglova, Tax and Legal Services Chief of Staff in Central and Eastern Europe, PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory (Russia); Zafer Engin, Head of the Value Added Services division at DHL Global Forwarding Greater China (China); Lars Nennhaus, Head of Corporate and Strategic Development at Duisburger Hafen AG (Germany); Juha Lehtonen, Director of Siemens Osakeyhtio Mobility Division (Finland); and Shankar Shinde, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Freight Forwarder’s Association in India (India). Simultaneously with the LDz conference, Riga will host the 16+1 National Coordinators’ Meeting of the CEEC-China Secretariat on Logistics Cooperation. The participants of the meeting will visit various Latvian transport and logistics companies and participate in the LDz conference.
