High-level representatives from railway companies and organizations will arrive in Latvia on 5 August

High-level representatives from railway companies of other countries and international organizations will arrive in Latvia in honor of the 90th anniversary of Latvijas dzelzceļš.

The 90th anniversary celebrations of Latvijas dzelzceļš will be visited by Paul Guitink, Senior Adviser Central & Eastern Europe of the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER), Avtandil Gorgiladze, Vice-President of Russian Railways, Tadeus Sozda, Committee Chairman of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD), Albertas Šimenas, Deputy Director General of Lithuanian Railways, Vladimir Ring, Deputy Chief of Belarusian Railways, Iraklij Ezubaija, Director General of Georgian Railway and other cooperation partners of Latvijas dzelzceļš.

On 5 August at 11.00 in Latvian Railway History Museum will take place a ceremony, in which there will be given Certificates of Recognition of the Ministry of Transport of Latvia and awards from Latvijas dzelzceļš to LDz employees.

On 5 August at 13.00 in Latvian Railway History Museum will take place the opening of the book Dzelzceļi Latvijā (Railways in Latvia) and the first stamping of a postage stamp with the participation of Chairwoman of the Board of SJSC Latvijas Pasts Maiga Dzērvīte.

Concern Latvijas dzelzceļš comprises the holding company SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš and four subsidiaries – LDz Cargo Ltd., LDz InfrastruktūraLtd., LDz Ritošā sastāva serviss Ltd. and a security company LDz Apsardze. In 2008 the profit of Concern LDz was 13.4 million lats and the net turnover – 299 million lats.
